Why do I need to take the StrengthsFinder assessment?

This assessment is based on over 40 years of scientific studies and research in human behavior. You can find more information about the background and validity of the assessment here. 

Your report will give us insight into your natural patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.

You may feel like you already have a grasp of what you’re good at, but StrengthsFinder offers something special: 1) validation (like, hey, you really are kickass at that thing you always kinda sorta thought you were great at!), and 2) suggestions for how to maximize your strengths so that you can operate at your full potential.

What is your coaching philosophy?

There is greatness in all of us. Not just in some of us, but in ALL of us.

The ICF (International Coaching Federation) defines coaching as “Partnering with Clients in a Thought-Provoking and Creative Process that Inspires them to Maximise their Personal and Professional Potential”

My Personal Coaching Philosophy aligns with that.

What is your coaching process?

After you’ve completed your assessment and mailed it to me, we will go through the following process:

  1. Discover – You have unique greatness within you, than nobody else has. In this first part of the process, I will help you to understand and appreciate how extraordinary you are.
  2. Embrace – During this part of the process we will develop strategies to consciously focus your talents so that you will become MORE of the BEST of you MORE of the time.
  3. Nurture – This is where I help you to become masterful at authentically expressing yourself and your uniqueness and add value to the world (your life, family, career or business)
  4. Shine – Here is where I inspire you to turn your talents into Strengths that will make your light shine bright. You will also learn how to ‘manage’ your weaknesses (where applicable) NO, we’re not going to try and ‘fix’ your perceived weaknesses. You’re not broken. But we can also not ignore the areas that are tripping you up – so we’ll strategize a plan to use your Strengths to work around those areas.NOTE: For this last part to be really effective you should invest in your Full 34 report.

    Although I provide the structure of the overall coaching engagement,  each time we meet you are in charge of our agenda.  My job is to ensure that all our conversations lead us closer toward your desired goal.This ‘Free Agenda’ approach ensures that your main priorities are dealt with as they arise.  Coaching should not be something separate from your life but fully integrated in it.  It’s fun, it’s challenging and it’s rewarding.

Why do you work virtually?

Because it saves time, money and the planet. Neither of us have to travel – that saves us time. Time is a very precious resource and I value it highly. We can make more of virtually anything – but we cannot make more time. So I prefer to NOT spend mine in traffic.

And because we don’t need to use cars or other forms of transport to get together we both reduce carbon emission that traffic causes.

It also enables me to work with clients from across the globe. Today’s technology makes it easy and cost effective to work across the globe.

I don’t see myself as a motivator. I belief that if people cannot motivate themselves, then I can’t help them. What I do really well is to INSPIRE.

I’m committed to personal development. I constantly study areas of neuroscience, positive psychology, human behavior and strengths – but also business, marketing and technology.

Studying these topics feeds my mind for deep contemplation, which fuels ideas to help my clients even more and on a deeper level.

Because I attract high impact clients, I expect high impact results and I will hold you accountable to achieve that, because I know you can.

I only work on projects that are important and meaningful to me. And if you are my client you are important to me and our time and work together will always be meaningful, valuable and transformational.

What about my weaknesses. Can you help me fix it?

Research indicates that working really hard to fix weaknesses drains people’s energy and engagement and yield very marginal results – if any.

So instead of helping you to “fix” your weaknesses, I will do something MUCH better: I will teach you strategies and tools on how to manage them (where they are hindering your progress)

Let me give you an example: I can’t stand the site of blood or injections.

Do I need to learn how to manage that so that I will be able to work with blood and guts and give people injections? NO – because I’m not a surgeon. So although it’s a weakness – it is not one I need to manage or learn to get better at because it’s not hindering my progress.

Let me give you another example – more related to StrengthsFinder talent themes.

One of my lesser themes is Discipline, which basically means that I don’t like rules, regulations, order and structure. I like freedom.

Do I need to manage my dislike of structure and routine?

Hell YES, as a business owner it is important to have some structure and routine in order to ensure that you stay focused on your business objectives.

And that is what I’ll help you do. We’ll identify if and how your lesser themes are hindering your progress. And we’ll develop strategies to help you manage them.

Why Strengths Coaching works

As successful business owner, leader or employee you have a unique set of talents, that makes you different from all your colleagues or competitors. Perhaps it is the meticulous way in which you analyze a challenge. Perhaps it’s the way you form new business ideas or see opportunities. Perhaps it is the charming way in which you communicate with clients, colleagues or suppliers. Perhaps it is your ability to see connections between seemingly disparate ideas.

And focus more of your attention on polishing those talents that make you shine in your profession and make you the brilliant lawyer or business owner you are?

And what about your blindspots.

You may argue that you don’t have blindspots. And perhaps you’re right. But the thing about blindspots is that they are “blind” – which is why you’re normally not aware of them. Because if you were, they wouldn’t be “blindspots” but weaknesses.
