I was born and raised in South Africa, with loads of passion and a rebel at heart. When I finished high school, I still had no clear vision of what I wanted to do with my life.
Well actually, I did. I wanted to travel the world and eventually become a specialist in helping people become the best version of themselves - I was gifted with the ability to see and bring forward the potential in people. Even when they didn't see it themselves. Mom and Dad thought that I was too young and too rebellious to let loose on my own in the world. And they had a point.
They were not against me traveling the world, they just suggested that I rather obtain a qualification first and then travel. But since I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life in terms of a career, I also had no idea what I wanted to study. So I decided to study both law and psychology.
After completing my initial studies I had to choose whether I wanted to become a lawyer or psychologist. I chose law and practiced as lawyer for several years because I thought that it would enable me to make enough money quick enough to travel the world. And it did. But I was miserable being a lawyer. Not that law is a bad career. It’s not. It was just not the right career for me. But I learned a few valuable lessons in the art of communication and persuasion. And that you need to be bold and stay focused on what you want to achieve in life.
I also learned that you can be good and successful at what you do, even if you're not passionate about it....BUT
If you are not passionate about who you are and what you do, you just don’t have the same level of energy and engagement. And at some point in time you start to feel disconnected from yourself and from the world. And that is not a pleasant place to be in.
You need to have a clear vision for your life and who you want to be in this world, and take ownership of it...
Without vision for your life and who you want to be in this world, it is very hard to deal with life’s challenges because you have no internal compass guiding you in making the right decisions for yourself and your life.
Realizing that I had to give up everything I worked so hard for was a difficult and scary decision to make. I felt guilty about the time and money invested. I felt guilty towards the people who supported me through the years. I felt scared about losing the lifestyle I got used to etc. I can name at least another 10 things that scared me. But I also knew that the path I was on, was wrong for me.
So I followed my heart and started preparing myself for a major change. It propelled me into researching and studying topics like neuroscience, psychology, high performance, influence and persuasion, positive psychology and human excellence.
It was during this time that I started to realize what a HUGE impact my own talents had on my way of thinking, feeling and behaving.
I understood why I preferred working with ambitious, hardworking and driven people in a inspirational, positive and results driven way and why I don’t like rules and routine.
So during my late twenties to mid thirties I changed careers and started to focus on people- and business development. I obtained several more qualifications - amongst which an Executive Certificate (MBA) and Master Coaching.
And here is what I know today…..
- We are all amazing unique people...
- We all have greatness in us.....it's not just in some of us. It's in ALL of us...
- We all have weaknesses too but..
...but focusing on them and investing time in trying to fix them is one of the most unproductive and energy draining things you can do.
I’m not saying that you have to ignore your weaknesses. I’m saying you have to learn to manage them - for as far as they need to be managed.
I also know that whatever you choose to do in life, you have to show up 100%. Embrace and take ownership of who you are.
Focus on consciously developing your talents into strengths so you can live a life of prosperity, abundance, passion and fulfillment.
And finally I know, that if what I shared here, resonates with you, and you need help to discover, embrace and make your uniqueness shine in your business, career or life - I can help you.
Your time is NOW!
Because it’s true……
We're not here for a long time. We're here for a good time....and you too can live a life of prosperity, abundance and fulfillment by aligning your life endeavors with who you are at your core!"
